Jimin Yi Baek (b. 1995, Seoul, South Korea) is a New York-based visual artist whose work focuses on painting. Her practice explores themes of communication, conversation, landscape, and love.

Baek’s ongoing project, Idling Conversations, is inspired by Samuel Beckett and uses the linguistics of painting as a means of self-discovery. Through this process, she engages with the present moment, believing that such engagement is essential to creating work that remains relevant and contemporary. Her paintings evolve in response to her environment—shaped by her location, the seasons, social and intimate interactions, and even the view from her bedroom window. This intuitive approach focuses on discovering and expressing a self that encapsulates, condenses, and shifts its ecosystem.

In 2024, Baek co-founded Studio in Factory, a collaborative art space and gallery in Long Island City, NY, alongside artists Lee and Jee-Eun Lee. The space fosters creative exchange among artists.
